It was freezing outside but we were pretty warm at the Turkish Cultural Center with our students. We had a lovely evening with lots of different topics discussed and delicious food that we learned to make.
We started off with chicken. Usually in the Turkish tradition each meal must have either rise pilaf or bulgur pilaf that is served with the main dish. Tonight we made bulgur pilaf. The bulgur in this protein-fiber side dish is toasted to bring out its deep, nutty flavor before being simmered in chicken stock.
Last but not least we had sutlac (rice pudding) Turkey is famous for its wide selection of milk-based desserts and puddings. Baked rice pudding is the cream of the crop. It holds a very special place in Turkish cuisine. You’ll find that it’s made in every home and served in every Turkish restaurant. Hope to see you all next class and stay warm…
