DSCN57851Turkish Cultural Center Queens (TCCQ) held a morning event with Irish people to taste the Turkish breakfast and to get to know each other. The purpose of the program was to learn more about each other’s institution and share different cultures and backgrounds. First, the program started by introducing each other while having a Turkish breakfast. Second, videos about both institutions were presented to learn, understand and share two different cultures. Third, the president of Irish center and the president of Turkish Cultural Center Queens were invited to give a speech about their own organization and culture.  This event was just a beginning to strengthen relations between TCCQ and The New York Irish Center.

IMG_14951The evening of November 21st , Monday. The Turkish cultural center Queens was a host to a very meaningful dinner.The Dinner has started with the pray by Rev.Joshua Hollman and   Rev. K. Jeanne Person  shared and explained the meaning and rituals of what thanksgiving means to the American people. The speech was informative and touching.  Ibrahim Sayar, Director of interfaith Platform at the Peace Island Institute  spoke about the perspective of giving thanks in the Turkish culture . The two most important key factors and similarities of both views was that the abundant amount of blessings that God has given us and how little we appreciate and also, gathering with friends and family and sharing our foods with the less fortunate. The environment was a cozy setting where people from different walks of life came together sat on the same table and enjoyed a meal while keeping in mind the less fortunate.
