Many believe that the changing presence of Turkey in the Middle East signals a new balance of power in the region. On Tuesday, Dec.07, Turkish investigative journalist Aydogan Vatandas had a conversation with Tony Karon, the senior editor of Time Magazine, about the recent developments in the Middle East. Karon stated that Turkey has a long historical background and cultural ties in the Middle East and U.S can learn a lot from Turkey’s experience in the region.

On behalf of the Turkish Cultural Center, we express our deep concern and extend our condolences on the loss of at least 40 lives from bushfires near Haifa, in northern Israel. Our feelings are with the people affected, including those who have been evacuated. We understand that several of Israel’s neighbors have sent assistance to help tackle the fires, including aircraft. We are very happy that Turkey sent two firefighting aircrafts to help control the huge brushfire in northern Israel.

altOn November 18, 2010 Turkish Cultural Center New York attended Harlem Children’s Zone Multicultural Dinner for “Celebrating the Beauty of Diversity”. Many cultural centers around New York have taken part on this very special dinner. Turkish Cultural Center offered Turkish coffee, delights and baklava to the attendees of this program. Students from various schools have come to the Turkish Cultural Center’s booth to get information on Turkey and its rich history. TCC have presented its activities and upcoming programs.

Every day the news is filled with coverage of hot button issues like migration and cultural polarization. Youth around the globe have taken notice and are speaking out about these issues. They picked up video cameras and trained their lenses on the challenges of diversity and integration in their communities and presented a vision of a world free of prejudice, discrimination and intolerance for the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival which was held its awards ceremony on Nov. 12, 2010 at the Paley Center for Media in New York.
