IMG_59631The 6th Annual Friendship Dinner hosted by the Turkish Cultural Center of Brooklyn, was themed 'Hate Crimes and Young Peacebuilders'.

"Unfortunately hate and hate crimes do not go away by pretending they dont exist. the true manner to put out the flames of hatred is by recognizing it, exposing and finally having those ind with the courage to stand against it. those heroes are who I like to call young peacebuilders", explained Zafer Akin, President of Turkish Cultural Center of NY.

IMG_18441TCC Brooklyn and Brooklyn Amity School organized this month's Senate Talks Series  on April 23 Monday. This month's speaker State Assemblyman William Colton talked about how the government in the United States works, but emphasized mainly on how the government in New York is. He gave a thorough explanation of the branches in the New York government. Student's had an idea about the similarities between the branches of government for the United States and the New York State.

The center has been working tirelessly to build stronger community relations by establishing long lasting friendship among diverse communities. “Turkey and the United States of America has so much in common than people realize” said the Vice President Mehmet Kilic who was honored this year as one of Brooklyn’s Rising Stars.

announcement1Today the French Parliament passed a bill making it a crime for anyone to deny that the tragic events of 1915 (which resulted in the death of many Ottoman Citizen, Turks and Armenians, in Eastern Anatolia) as a genocide against the Armenian people. The Turkish people (descendants of the Ottoman Empire) adamantly deny such false accusations and refer maters of unfounded allegations with differing views to historians and call for open debate and discussions.
