 _MG_07561There are about 200 Turkish students at SUNY New Paltz who came with ‘Dual Diploma Program’.

Turkish Cultural Center organized Turkish Day at SUNY New Paltz. Event was partially sponsored by Honorable Assemblyman Cavin Cahill and took place on May 3rd, 2012 at SUNY New Paltz. Program started with welcoming speech by the Director of TCC Albany Veysel Ucan. After his speech introduction film of TCC New York was presented. Guest speakers Honorable Assemblyman Cavin Cahill, President Donald Christian and Turkish Professor Ilgu Ozler are all mentioned greatness and benefits of Dual program.

IMG_38981The Turkish Cultural Center of Albany (TCCA) hosted its 2nd Annual Dialogue and Friendship dinner on April 25, 2012 at the Hotel Albany.  The theme of this year’s dinner was “Education for Global Peace and Tolerance.”  The event was very well attended by about 200 invitees, which included educators, community leaders, religious leaders, members of the New York State Senate and Assembly, academics from local universities, and community residents.

IMG_35001Children’s Day Celebration brought Turkish and Bosnian community together. Program started with national anthem of Bosnia and Turkey. After the welcoming speech by Sado Kanic, director of Bosniak Center, guest speaker Amel Kuburovic was called for keynote speech. He mentioned importance of being together. “Every Turkish family should talk about mutual history of Turks and Bosniaks, how we lived together, things we shared and the similarity of life styles to their kids and every Bosniak Family should do the same” said Amel Kuburovic. Bosiak and Turkish dance groups performed folk dance, songs and poems.

 asura1Ashura(Noah’s Pudding) is a desert prepared by cooking many different kind of fruits, nuts and wheat in the same pan. It has a very rich ingredients list where one can see walnuts, hazel nuts, dried figs, pomegranate seeds, wheat grains, ground orange particles, beans, etc. Their tastes contribute to give the unique taste of each Ashura of its own depending on which ingredient was used at what amount. But however they are all sweet.
